How do you change what dictionary is being used to spell check in Microsoft Word 2007?

When I installed Microsoft Word, the default dictionary was UK English. It's constantly correcting words like "center" and spelling it "centre". I can only find a option to select custom dictionaries, which does have a US dictionary, but even after I select it, it stays with the UK version. How do you change what dictionary is being used to spell check in Microsoft Word 2007?
You have to click the Default button, this way:

1. Press CTRL/A to select the entire document.

2. Click the Review tab on the Ribbon.

3. In the Proofing section, click Set Language.

4. Select the language you want in the list box.

5. Click the Default button to make this the default for future documents.

6. Click Yes in the message box.

7. Click OK.

That should do it.
