How do I add a word to the dictionary.?

I want to add words to the spell check dictionary used for spell checking email. How? It does not recognize a lot of the words I use.How do I add a word to the dictionary.?
You don't say what email program you're using, but in Outlook and Mozilla Thunderbird you just right-click in a flagged word and select Add to Dictionary.
