Is dank a word in the english dictionary?

I wrote this terrrrrrrible large research report, and i lost a percent (resulting in a letter grade) from using dank. My teacher wrote that it was a spelling error and filled it in to dark. What should I do?Is dank a word in the english dictionary?
Dank is a legitimate word meaning cold and clammy. If that was the meaning that you intended to convey, I suggest that you photocopy the dictionary entry and show it to her. Teachers are not what they used to be.

If Charles was bad, his sister would threaten to send him into the dank basement with its cold earthen floor and penetrating odorIs dank a word in the english dictionary?
i imagine that you meant the slang term dank. if you weren't intending to describe something dark and clammy, then your teacher could mark you down for using slang. i would go to the teacher and explain that you did not misspell, that the word you used is common in urban language and see if you can get the point back.
Picador is so right! Teachers as a whole these days do not know their subject. Most of them just "teach" what their instruction leaflet says they should teach, whether the leaflet is right or not.
Yes, "dank" is a word that can be found in an English dictionary. All your teacher had to do was look it up. I can think of a reason that she may have marked it as a spelling error and amended it to "dark": you may have used the word with an incorrect interpretation of the meaning. "Dank" means unpleasantly damp and clammy. Is this what you meant when you wrote the word?
Yes
